Membership and Dues


Memberships are set to be ongoing and renew every month and each month you will receive a reminder. If you have made arrangements for automatic payment, there is nothing more to do. If you pay manually, this will be a gentle nudge to do so. Once your payment is processed, you will receive a quick confirmation email. If you ever wish to cancel your membership, that is done through the Profile. If you wish to pause your membership, such as if you will be on sabbatical somewhere far away, you will do that by emailing membership@aikidoofmadison.com.


It is an option to pay for multiple months in advance. Submit your payment for the number of months you wish to pre-pay and email membership@aikidoofmadison.com to let the membership coordinator know how many months you paid for. She will re-set your membership date and you won't receive any reminders or confirmations until that date arrives.


When you log into the website, you'll be notified if you have a balance due. There may be a slight delay between you submitting your payment and it being processed on our end, so don't freak out if you paid your dues recently and still see the message. You can dismiss the payment window, which is really prompting you to pay via credit card. We are not using credit cards for monthly dues because the fees are very high and we want to save every penny we can for dojo needs and not pay it to payment processors.


Payment method

For all check payments: made to Aikido of Madison or Aikido of Madison Dojo, but NOT to Aikido of Madison LLC.

  • Checks in the mail: to 2219 Atwood Ave Madison 53704, NOT to the Hollister Ave address
  • Checks dropped at the dojo: drop in the lock box downstairs (same as before)

If dues are a significant financial barrier to your participation in training, please email dojo@aikidoofmadison to discuss a confidential arrangement.


Adding Members to Your Profile


This section contains instructions on how to add additional people to your profile. This will allow you to manage everyone's dues in one place as well as to take advantage of the discounts we offer for multiple family members. This includes:

  • Parents who do not train, but have a child/children who do
  • Adults who have family members who train, including a spouse/partner and/or children

Adding people to your membership is done in your Profile. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the section called More Member Options. Select the option for Additional Members in Your Account.


Adults who do not train but who have children who do

As a parent or guardian, you will be responsible for the membership. You will receive communications regarding the dojo, and you will handle payment of dues and other fees. You will be the primary member on the account. The first child you sign up will be signed up as a Secondary Member. Enter the name. Email is a required field. If your child is a teen and you want them to participate in the dojo community, you are welcome to enter their email address here. If you do not wish for them to receive dojo emails, enter your own email address. If you have additional children you want to sign up, add them as Tertiary Members by entering their names. Email addresses are not collected. This configuration will assign Youth dues to the Secondary member and apply a 50% discount for the dues of all of the Tertiary members you add.


Adults who do train and wish to add additional family members

In addition to your own membership, you can add additional adults as well as kids to your membership. Each accrues dues at 50% off the normal price as part of a household membership. Adults (spouses, partners, etc) are added as Secondary Members. You will be required to enter an email address, and these people will receive dojo emails. Children are added as Tertiary Members and will not receive emails.
